Zero-sum, purely transactional perceptions of human interaction/social relationships are a hallmark of both psychopathy and authoritarianism. It's no surprise that these "men" attract so many weak-willed (and, I daresay, weak-minded) men. Authoritarians and psychopaths have that tendency, right? They are magnets for certain kinds of followers/worshippers. It's sad, but I do think finding this context has helped me to see the trends for what they are: predictable, age old human tendencies within certain personality groups.
