Those with ADHD have plenty of perspective on this issue! Executive dysfunction is such a nebulous mess of symptoms, and many of us live in a state of perpetual frustration. We're constantly overwhelmed.

Those with ADHD are known to thrive under a system of positive reinforcement, but most of us absolutely wither when we receive negative reinforcement or are placed in high-stress environments. This doesn't make us weak, and as you said -- it doesn't make us lazy, either.

Many people without ADHD would do better within a more supportive, open, and positive environment, too! I'm so happy to know that professors like you are putting humanity back into the human sciences. Ironically, the academic psychology and sociology fields tend to be seriously lacking in this department. Voices like yours are a huge part of improving this reality.
