This was a wonderfully insightful piece - thanks for sharing it, Anthony. One caveat I have about this is that "caring more about independence and freedom than safety and security" is a privilege most of the world's people don't have.

I don't say this to bring about guilt, but to remind all of us (ESPECIALLY my own white, privileged self) that we need to be charitable and use our success to give to those young people with ambition but poor circumstances, and to those who are in need.

I'm sure you're a generous person, so this isn't intended to be preachy! I've just felt especially cognizant of this lately and wanted to share. Again, thanks for your great writing!
