This is the point I wish more Americans could grasp — there USED TO BE a huge array of legal protections in place for employees. These were largely directed toward protection from predatory employers and/or financial institutions. Most of these protections were removed (deregulated) in the 80s.

Comparing our potential now to then is like comparing two people facing down a grizzly bear: one has an AK-47, the other has some expired pepper spray.
