This is such a timely reminder. I genuinely do try to include my own privilege in my articles—with humor, even when it’s a caveat to advice—but I know I often fail to do so where it matters. After all, I’m so privileged compared to many Americans that I don’t even realize where the LACK of privilege truly comes into play.

But thanks to the work of incredible minority, class-conscious, disabled, or just plain tough-as-nails writers here and elsewhere, I feel more prepared to write for the people I really seek to reach: everyone with a desire to love life more, to see dreams happen even in small moments, and who are genuinely good people just trying to find their way. Most of those readers won’t be as privileged as me, but we can still connect deeply on 99% of the topics I explore.

Thank you to all of the writers who are out here busting ass and reminding me to stay honest with myself! I hope I can continue to learn from your work, Jessica, as well as the work of so many others.
