The image of a haunting strikes me as particularly accurate. That's the sense I get from people around me - and it's poignant that those who would have been considered firmly "stable" just a decade or two ago are now haunted nearly as much as those who are firmly in the "scraping by" category. The anxiety is very real, very constant, and very painful. I live an extremely privileged life and even I feel my student debt and other expenses looming over me like a shadow most of the time. I can only imagine how stifling it is for most Americans, especially right now. Thanks for shining a light on this matter and reminding people to think about where this runaway train is headed!
