That “FOMO attitude” that Gen X and Boomers are so fond of touting is the only thing giving us a chance at a future right now. No, not merely a brighter future - a future, full stop.

It’s not FOMO. It’s critical thinking skills. We realized that our jobs are trying to force us into an impoverished future where our potential is limited to the myopic views of a few billionaires and their army of out-of-touch middle managers. The only way we “miss out” on anything is by selling our souls to a system that can’t even give us the dignity of valuing our labor. That needs to change. So, we’re demanding better and will quit before we allow ourselves to be smacked around by “the man” for the rest of our lives. We can’t afford to live anymore…so how the hell can we afford to just “stick around” while wages stagnate even further?

As for dating, most of the disruption was brought on by the advent of feminism as a social consciousness movement. Women aren’t afraid of being single. We have friends, careers, passions, pets… So we aren’t putting up with any relationship that involves disrespect or devaluation by our partners. Men who are more conscious are choosing the same, but there are a ton of bitter ones who complain about it all day, too. And then, as always, there are assholes of every gender and creed. They were always there. The “free love” movement opened the door for fuckboys and flakes to go wild, but sexually free people aren’t the issue. It’s the ones who are dishonest and turn everyone else off of the dating scene that cause issues.

I get why you write this kind of thing…but it sounds very out of touch.
