Publication of shoddy books really is the biggest issue, from my perspective as both a whale reader and a full time writer. For every reader that doesn’t mind typos, iffy pacing, or one dimensional characters…there are about three or four that DO care.

A lot of us read the 3 stars or lower views and ignore the 5 stars when choosing a book. The lower starred reviews tend to contain more valid information about the book. Do the work, people, and understand that publication is a RISK. You have to spend a decent chunk of money on editing, art, and marketing to see any kind of a return. It’s a job, not a free-for-all.
