I can follow your thought process, but maybe the deeper questions we should all be asking are these:

Does authority or leadership have to equate to power dynamics, or can we learn to view them in an equitable, role-based way?

Is “power” necessary for leadership, or can we function better when we see our efforts as collaborative and practical divisions of labor?

Most endeavors fail because of dysfunction within the team’s relationships to one another. Women and non traditional men have reason to be allies, but in my experience these men are just as condescending and patronizing as their more masculine peers/leadership when they are working with female compatriots. Sometimes even more so, as they use women as targets for the feelings of anger and powerlessness they can’t express with admins.

We’ve got to accept that misogyny is still present in men who don’t outwardly conform to masculine expectations, or we won’t make any progress. You pointed out that we can be allies, but I’m not convinced we’re there yet. The fact that we’re having these conversations means things can start to change, though!
